Coursera, a leading online learning platform, publishes its annual Global Skills Report to provide insights into the evolving skills landscape worldwide. Traditionally released as a PDF, this year Coursera wanted to transform the report into a dynamic microsite with an interactive map, making the data more engaging and accessible. Our team at Launch collaborated with Coursera to design a visually compelling and user-friendly digital experience that allowed users to explore global skill trends with ease.

As the UX designer, my primary challenge was to create an intuitive and interactive map from scratch—something Coursera had never done before for this report. I focused on designing a seamless navigation experience that allowed users to explore country-specific data effortlessly. By prioritizing clarity, responsiveness, and accessibility, I ensured that the map was both functional and engaging, enabling users to dive into the report’s insights with minimal friction.

In addition to UX, I led the visual design to ensure the microsite aligned with Coursera’s branding while offering a fresh, modern look. I crafted a clean and engaging interface, using thoughtful color choices, typography, and data visualization techniques to make complex information digestible. The interactive elements were designed to enhance engagement without overwhelming users, striking the perfect balance between style and function.

The Global Skills Report microsite successfully transformed a static report into a dynamic, user-friendly experience.

This project also set a new standard for Coursera’s annual report—what started as a one-time microsite is now a reusable template that they continue to refresh each year.
